History made/Her story made the front page. The first time a living Canadian artist is featured on the front page of a major Canadian newspaper on January 21, 2011. Jane Eccles appears on the front page of the Toronto Star. Eccles’s Overlap solo exhibition was curated by Olex.

“Lives Lived: Vera Jacyk” in The Globe and Mail. Jacyk’s 2005 solo show Chysto, Chysto, Chysto at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery was Olex’s curatorial debut.


 

Roger’s Daytime appearances

On March 22, 2010 an indecisive Olexander appeared on Roger’s Daytime television programme to “Let the People Speak” and choose one from four works to donate for the Drawing for Art fundraiser at Station Gallery. Show hosts Kasia and Christian had a tough time deciding. To see which one was chosen see, visit Curator By Day.


On November 22, 2010 Olexander appeared on Roger’s Daytime television programme wearing his “curator hat” to speak about Tony Romano’s exhibition Notary Moon. Pinocchio made a special guest-star appearance.


 

Audio

Radio Canada International reviewed Olexander’s As We Slept exhibition held in late-autumn, 2008 in Winnipeg. This exhibition marked the 75th anniversary of the Famine-Genocide in Soviet Ukraine.

Observing Elections in Ukraine

At the end of December 2004, Olexander travelled to Ukraine as an accredited elections observer.  There he experienced the momentous events of the Orange Revolution which saw the birth of a new European nation.
